POYNTON F.C. U14's VIPERS

Match Reports 2007-2008

Sunday 30th September 2007 - Apollo Juniors Under 14's 4-1 Poynton FC Under 14's Vipers - Stockport Metro League (Division Two)

Vipers were outnumbered in the midfield and were 2-0 down by half time. It was the first time this season Vipers had played on a full size pitch & struggled throughout to adapt their style of play. The half time team talk asked the lads to get the ball to the wings, which too infrequently we did. From one of these moves Warner headed in from Guest's cross to pull one back. However, with 10 minutes to go Vipers pushed players forward & conceeded a third. Strangely, Vipers played their best football of the match by attacking the wings during the latter part of the game. It was one of those games where Vipers had more chances but Apollo's were more clear-cut.

Sunday 4th November 2007 - Poynton FC Under 14's Vipers 1-5 Stockport Junior Blues Under 14's North - Stockport Metro League (Division Two)

Vipers were always going to find this a difficult game, over recent seasons the 2 sides have been evenly matched. North took an early lead although Poynton with just 11 players available were playing decent football. The equaliser came 5 minutes before half time with a well struck drive from Rob Morrison. North bounced back almost immediately with a beauty from the outside boot from their left winger, arrow -like into the far corner. Almost immediately scored again making it 3-1 at half time. Even though Vipers tired in the second half they fought hard. Tom Perera was the busier of the goalies but his handling was superb. To concede just 2 more goals inthe second half was an achievement. Tom Perera was awarded player of the match. Vipers had
4 key players missing through injury, but the biggest miss was Captain Ryan Seville. Ryan recently trained with Macclesfield Town . It only took one training session for his potential to be recognised. His immediate selection for their under 14 team is a tribute to how far he has progressed particularly during last season. Good luck to Ryan, but he will be sorely missed by his team mates. He has been a regular for the last 5 seasons.

Sunday 11th November 2007 - Poynton FC Under 14's Vipers 3-5 Bollington United Under 14's - Stockport Metro League (Division Two)

Guest & Seville were soon on the score sheet for Vipers courtesy of excellent through balls from McCarten. However, Bollington pulled level by half time. Defensive errors let in Bollington to increase their lead to 4-2. With just 5 minutes to go, Vipers scored the goal of the game involving Morrison, Seville & Guest. Vipers pushed for the equaliser but conceded a free kick some 40 yards out. Quite simply, Vipers hopes disappeared as it was struck with incredible power into the top corner.
MOTM; Johnny Guest.

Sunday 13th April 2008 - Bollington United Under 14's 5-2 Poynton FC U14's Vipers - Stockport Metro League (Division Two)

Vipers put on a strong show against Bollington aided by 2 superb strikes from Rob McCarten. A left footer from 25 yards in the first half and a right footer into the top corner from 15 yards in the second. A few basic errors cost Vipers 3 goals, but there was no denying Bollington's overall strength and deserved victory. Jacob Warner had a great game at left back, linking with the midfield and getting to the by-line on a couple of occasions. MOTM; Elliott Fairclough.
